Dr. Mohd. Kaleem Khan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna since December 2015. Dr. Khan joined IIT Patna as an Assistant Professor in December 2008. Before joining IIT Patna, he served as a lecturer at Thapar University, Patiala, and Aligarh Muslim University. He received his doctoral (Ph.D.) and Masters (M.Tech.) degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and a bachelors (B.Tech.) degree from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. His research lab, Sustainable Energy Research Laboratory (SERL) at IIT Patna, is focused on exploring and developing cutting-edge technologies for sustainable development. The thrust areas of SERL are thermal management of EV battery packs, compact heat exchangers, solar-thermal technology, creep and corrosion, thermomechanical behaviour of fuel claddings, electronic chip cooling using microchannel heat sinks (utilizing forced liquid cooling, pool boiling, and flow boiling), thermoelectric coolers, and electrowetting-assisted hotspot cooling. He has produced twelve PhDs, while four others are in progress, and several M.Tech. and B.Tech. theses. Dr. Khan is actively involved in sponsored research projects with generous funding from the government agencies ANRF, BRNS, and AERB. He has published about eighty research articles in peer-reviewed international journals and presented his research at national and international conferences. Dr. Khan authored a textbook titled Fluid Mechanics and Machinery, published by Oxford University Press in 2015. Dr. Khan is a member of various reputed international and national societies such as ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers), ISES (International Solar Energy Society), ISHMT (Indian Society of Heat and Mass Transfer), and NSFMFP (National Society of Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power) Dr. Khan served as Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT Patna from March 2019 to October 2021 and served as the first Associate Dean (Administration) of IIT Patna from January 2016 to April 2017.
